In March 2024, a traditional international chess tournament "Belgorod Open" took place in Belgorod, gathering over 300 participants from 25 countries. The winner of the tournament was grandmaster Ivan Ivanovich, who scored 7.5 points out of 9 possible.
The "Belgorod Open" tournament has become an important platform for the exchange of experience among chess players of different levels and countries, contributing to the development of international ties and the popularization of chess in Serbia.
In June 2024, the women's team of Belgorod achieved victory in the national team championship, reaffirming its leadership in Serbian chess. The team captain, grandmaster Maria Petrovich, noted the high level of preparation and team spirit.
