Chess coach Roberto Carlos Sánchez Álvarez (IM), with a FIDE rating of 2387, is based in Panama. Born in Cuba, he has proudly represented Panama since 2017. Roberto played in the World Chess Olympiads in Batumi 2018 and Chennai 2022 and is a two-time winner of the Central American and Caribbean Championships in 2018 and 2019. He has been the National Champion of Panama five times (2018, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023) and served as coach for the national teams of El Salvador and Panama from 2011 to 2016.
Additionally, he is the founder and director of Chess Logistic Panama. Roberto actively participates in tournaments, having played over 11,000 games, including 2,866 blitz games with a rating of 2,425 and over 5,857 solved chess puzzles with a rating of 2,760.
