Results of the Chess Year in Kalikutt: Achievements and Events of 2024

In 2024, Kalikutt confirmed its status as an important center of chess life, becoming a venue for prestigious tournaments and a witness to outstanding achievements. We present an overview of key events in the chess world in Kalikutt over the past year.

In November 2024, the Tata Steel Chess India tournament was held in Kalikutt, which included rapid and blitz competitions. In the men's rapid event, the Norwegian grandmaster Magnus Carlsen triumphed, scoring 7.5 points out of 9 possible and securing first place before the tournament ended. In the women's rapid event, the title was claimed by the Russian player Aleksandra Goryachkina with the same result.

The victories of Carlsen and Goryachkina confirmed their high class and attracted attention to the tournament, elevating its prestige on the international arena.

In the blitz tournament Tata Steel Chess India 2024 among men, there were no rivals to Magnus Carlsen, who added a blitz gold to his triumph in rapid. Among women, the victory was secured by the Russian Ekaterina Lagno, scoring 11.5 points in a total of 10 games.

The double success of Carlsen and the confident play of Lagno highlighted the high level of competition and the visibility of the tournament.

As part of the Tata Steel Chess India 2024 festival, there were also master classes and seminars for young chess players, which contributed to the popularization of chess among youth and increased interest in the game in the region.

Such initiatives contribute to the development of chess culture in Kalikutt and the discovery of new talents.

The year 2024 has been rich and successful for the chess community of Kalikutt. The hosting of major international tournaments and participation of leading grandmasters has strengthened the position of the region on the chess map and inspired a new generation of players to achieve high results.
