At the "Azimut" hotel, an international chess festival "Saint Petersburg Summer" kicked off on August 17 - this stage of the Russian Cup for men in classical chess, "The V.L. Korchnoi Memorial," featured 375 chess players, as well as the stage of the Russian Children's Cup with 498 participants.
This festival has become an important event in the chess life of the region, attracting both professionals and young talents from all over the country.
From October 24 to November 4, a traditional chess tournament "The M.I. Chigorin Memorial" took place in Saint Petersburg, marking its jubilee in 2024.
