Chess Results of 2024 in Croatia

From July 9 to 14, 2024, a tournament called SuperUnited Rapid & Blitz took place in Zagreb, which is part of the Grand Chess Tour series. The competition featured 10 of the world's leading chess players, including Magnus Carlsen, Viswanathan Anand, and Jan-Krzysztof Duda. The prize fund was set at $175,000. <\/blockquote> This tournament strengthened Croatia's reputation as a country capable of organizing high-level events, and contributed to the popularization of chess among the local population.
In September 2024, the Croatian men's national team participated in the 45th Chess Olympiad in Budapest. In the third round, the team faced a strong Uzbekistan squad, losing by a score of 3.5:0.5. <\/blockquote> Despite this defeat, participation in such prestigious tournaments provided Croatian players with valuable experience and a chance to compete against world leaders.
In October 2024, Croatian chess players participated in the Global Chess League, which was held in London from October 3 to 12. The tournament included 6 teams, each consisting of international grandmasters. <\/blockquote> The involvement of Croatian players in this competition highlighted their high-level mastery and aspiration for integration into the global chess community.
In November 2024, Croatian players competed in the second stage of the Women's Grand Prix FIDE 2024-2025, which took place from October 29 to November 9. The tournament gathered the 10 strongest female players in the world and became an important step in the development of women's chess in Croatia. <\/blockquote> This participation boosted interest in women's chess in the country and inspired a new generation of female chess players.
In December 2024, Croatian players took part in the World Rapid and Blitz Championships, held in New York from December 26 to 31. The tournament assembled the strongest players from all over the world and provided Croatian athletes an opportunity to showcase themselves on the international stage. <\/blockquote> Participation in this championship underscores the aspirations of Croatian chess players to achieve high results and their readiness to compete at the highest level. Overall, 2024 was a year of active involvement for Croatian chess in international competitions. <\/div>
