In 2024, Odessa became the center of numerous chess events aimed at the development and popularization of this intellectual game in the region. We present a review of the key moments of the year.

In March 2024, the traditional Open Chess Tournament took place in Odessa, gathering more than 150 participants from various corners of Ukraine. The tournament served as a platform for identifying new talents and exchanging experiences among chess players of different levels.

The winner of the tournament was local master Ivan Petrov, confirming his high level of play and striving for further development of his chess career.

In May 2024, Odessa hosted the regional stage of the National Chess Championship among juniors. Young chess players under the age of 18 competed for the right to represent their region at the national level.

A notable standout was 16-year-old Anna Ivanova, who claimed first place among girls, showcasing outstanding strategic skills.

In July 2024, as part of a program to promote chess in educational institutions, master classes and simultaneous exhibitions featuring well-known Ukrainian grandmasters were organized. These events attracted a large number of schoolchildren and students interested in studying chess.

The initiative received positive feedback and contributed to an increase in the number of young people engaged in chess.

In September 2024, the Odessa team participated in the National Chess League, where they demonstrated impressive results, placing third overall. The team was led by experienced coach Sergey Kovalenko, who highlighted the high level of preparation of his trainees.

This success solidified Odessa's position on the chess map of Ukraine and inspired young chess players towards new achievements.

In November 2024, Odessa hosted a charity chess tournament, part of which was aimed at supporting local schools and developing chess programs for children from disadvantaged families. The tournament united chess enthusiasts of different ages and helped bolster community spirit.

Participants emphasized the importance of such events for social integration and the popularization of chess among broader segments of the population.

Overall, 2024 was a fruitful year for the chess community in Odessa. The tournaments and initiatives contributed to the development of chess culture in the city, the emergence of new talents, and the strengthening of Odessa's position in the national chess arena.
